Construct, develop and rehabilitate, our prime mission
Region Alsace devotes 38% of its budget to education and training. Thus, the 103 public and private secondary schools in Alsace are the every day world of more than 69,000 young Alsatians and the Region is keen to make them increasingly attractive by improving facilities and amenities. It thus creates an environment which is increasingly conducive to secondary education. Over the last 20 years, Region Alsace has built 20 new secondary schools and totally refurbished another fifty.
Region Alsace is responsible for the operation of secondary schools and Apprentice Training Centres in Alsace and funds expenditure on physical and sports education, access to culture, green spaces and land improvement. It also offers its support to the families of secondary school pupils through the regional schooling premium.
Vocational training in quality structures
Region Alsace takes a particular interest in developing apprenticeships, a road to success rich in opportunities in Alsace. Proper training courses are opening up to young people who choose an apprenticeship. Region Alsace's policy on apprenticeships is based on three major priorities:
- Preserving the property assets of the Apprenticeship Training Centres (CFAs) and developing them by funding the construction of new establishments and extension works, and maintaining existing CFAs;
- Supporting apprentices by covering some of their training-related costs;
- Developing initiatives for the life of apprentices with the CFAs by assisting in the implementation of all kinds of projects.
Towards better insertion into professional life
It is Region Alsace's objective to increase the number of business-university partnerships by helping businesses to take on students or recent graduates to assist in the fulfilment of innovative projects. It also works closely on developing skills transfer by facilitating the placement of recent graduates in businesses.
Furthermore, the regional institution is committed to a policy of making students aware of courses in business and supports outreach programmes on scientific and technical culture to promote orientation towards scientific courses. Finally, the Region is broadening its policy of aid to international student exchange and has facilitated the exchange of more than 10,000 students in training and on courses overseas.
