The competitivity poles
The “Therapeutic Innovations” pole
This pole, which is part of 16 “global” projects or projects “with a global purpose” selected (three of which are health poles), concerns Alsace as a whole and is oriented according to the following two themes: “from gene to medicament” and “imagery and medical and surgical robotics”. An association responsible for its governance (AGIT) has been specifically set up to support this project, whose aim is the implementation of the resources required to achieve the quantitative and qualitative objectives set for the Alsatian project. Within this framework, it promotes synergy between businesses, training centres and research and innovation centres.

The “Vehicle of the Future” pole
This pole is backed by Franche-Comté and Alsace and is developing three themes: “clean vehicle”, “intelligent vehicle” and “sectorial excellence”. Its governance is handled by the association of the same name (supported by the State, the collectives and the company, PSA) with a programme director for each theme. The pole's ambition is to be recognised as the French leader in these fields and the competence pole worldwide on the vehicle of the future theme, thanks to a judicious combination of the industrial and scientific resources available in the two regions.

The “Great Eastern Natural Fibres” pole
This pole, which is supported by Lorraine but with which Alsace is associated, concerns the textile, wood and paper and compound materials fields. It represents around 1200 businesses which employ 45000 people and achieves a turnover of more than 8 billion euro a year. It also involves more than 300 researchers working with fifteen specialist laboratories, technical platforms and technology transfer centres. The governance association is backed by the State, the regions and the départements.

These poles are each coordinated by a specific structure and promote the emergence, funding and implementation of projects which bring together businesses and public laboratories with the support (particularly financial) of the State (Ministry of Industry, ANR, AII, OSEO) and the collectives concerned.
