 Territorial development

Project territories

The countryside, urban centres, medium-sized towns and regional nature reserves are all considered project territories.

Within the framework of ten countryside contracts, the Region is overseeing the implementation of countryside charters and supporting regional interest or local initiative projects in each of the areas concerned. The Region is also involved in helping medium-sized towns to provide amenities to reinforce their attractiveness: cultural or sports amenities, urban development, tertiary poles... It also supports action campaigns in the regional nature reserves.

Intervention territories

The Region offers specific aid to the most disadvantaged rural and urban territories. This is particularly the case for the “Vosges Massif” as a whole: development of mountain agriculture, encouraging the setting up of businesses, supporting tourist activities, space and landscape management.

Across the entire territory, the Region can also get involved in the rehabilitation of non-agricultural waste land to foster economic development, the creation of greenbelt, the cohesion of the urban fabric and local village services.

Finally, to enable the major urban centres to develop further, the Region is actively involved in urban development contracts and major urban development projects: urban requalification, economic development, vocational training, setting up community public services.

A housing campaign

Although housing does not fall within the brief of Region Alsace, it contributes as much as it can to the creation of quality lifestyle areas and housing suitable to the needs of the population. Depending on land availability and demand, its campaign is helping to diversify available housing and maintain or renew business and life in the old urban centres or in disadvantaged communities.

Finally, the public services territorialisation fund guarantees equal access to leisure and social amenities throughout the territory, particularly in villages and difficult communities.
