 Tourism

Go straight to the website of the Regional Committee for Tourism in Alsace! You will find everything you want to know about the history of Alsace, its food, the vineyards, the parks and zoos, accommodation, special offers, Christmas in Alsace and a host of other information! You can also use it to book hotels or gîtes.

The Region Alsace site features information on the organisation of the territory, travel facilities, sports leagues and facilities, cultural amenities, etc.

Heritage, wine and good food

These three elements are the real pillars of tourism in Alsace. The natural and cultural heritage of Alsace is considerable and should be protected and shown off in its best light. A number of museums and castles are of national or even international interest. The Mulhouse region is a good example of this, with the “Cité de l’Automobile Musée National Collection Schlumpf”, the “Cité du Train”, etc.
But the Alsatian territory as a whole benefits from the presence of museums and places of immense tourist value.
The wine and the good food along the “Route du Vin” and the innumerable “winstubs” are famous beyond the borders of our region. They continue to be a major asset in positioning Alsace as a tourist destination.

Green tourism

Alsace is also developing its “green tourism” thanks to the Vosges and the various activities that this mountain range has to offer: hiking, mountain biking, horse riding, etc. A network of signposted trails make every nook and cranny of the Vosges Massif safely and pleasantly accessible to tourists. Lakes and ski resorts offer a different selection of leisure activities such as sailing and winter sports.

Improving accessibility

Thanks to two international airports and the arrival of the East European TGV on 10 June 2007 (before the Rhine Rhone TGV in 2012), Alsace is accessible to everyone and in a shorter length of time. Access to the Upper Rhine basin will make it possible to extend this selection of tourist options even further. Alsace is a small region with a dense road network and a more than adequate rail network which make it possible to reach all places of interest to the tourist without any problem. Improvements are being studied, such as the creation of a shuttle bus for the “Route du Vin”, for example.

Christmas in Alsace

More than ever, Alsace is particularly attractive to tourists at Christmas time and even during the month leading up to this celebration thanks to its famous Christmas markets. Legends, “bredeles”, mulled wine and decorations: the Christmas atmosphere is wonderful and you never tire of it…
